Washing Cloth Diapers

Washing before first use

Our diapers are pre-washed. We still recommend one or two washes before first use. This increases the absorbency of the cotton fabric, as with every wash the residual starch (used in the manufacturing process) goes down. Soak the diapers in cold water overnight before washing.

Washing after use

Discard solid waste into the toilet and rinse the soiled diapers. Soak the cloth diapers in (cold or warm) detergent-water for 30 minutes. Gently scrub and rinse. Hang them to dry in the sun. These can be washed in a washing machine too. Softness and absorption of the fabric increases after a few washes.

Do NOT soak pocket diapers and diaper covers (those that contain leak-proof PUL) in hot water. Also, do NOT use brush or stone on them. There is no need to add any disinfectant. Sun drying does the trick!
